Parent Therapy

Group Therapy
I offer a variety of group therapy options for parents that are designed to increase knowledge on the theory and skills we know are effective for managing a variety of presenting concerns in children. Groups are an effective way to increase skills, receive support from other parents, and consult with Dr. Zia on specific concerns arising in your family.

Caregiver Workshops
I provide regular caregiver workshops on a variety of topics to help parents acquire knowledge on emotions, emotion regulation, temperament, and the impact of parenting on emotional development and resilience. Based on my experience and feedback, these workshops are a great way to obtain knowledge on how we understand various presenting issues in children and the evidence-based effective strategies that parents can use to support their children. This is often a valuable orientation to individual therapy or more tailored parent support. Workshops are mostly didactic in nature, with room for questions and answers.

Community Support and Education
My belief is that disseminating evidence-based mental health information community-wide is the first step in creating healthier communities and supporting families. I am actively involved in creating mental health awareness through educational opportunities in the community; at schools, libraries and in corporate organizations. This is a service that can be tailored to parents, educators, physicians, other mental health professionals, and students in schools. Please be in touch if you are interested.

Free Resources
My overall goals are to help youth feel more in control of their emotions, have solid relationships and feel effective in their lives. I provide resources using evidence-based practices including:
