Parenting in today’s world is more
challenging and confusing than ever

With social media overload, shifting parenting norms, and rising mental health concerns, figuring out how to support your child can feel overwhelming. Which advice is worth following? What actually works?

That’s why we founded our therapy clinic offering parent coaching, parenting therapy, and support for children and teens.

From playground drama to teen meltdowns, we combine practical wisdom with evidence-based support. If you’re looking for a clear starting point, our Parenting Strategies guide breaks down what actually helps—so you can feel more confident, connected, and calm at home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to common questions parents ask about this service—so you can feel more confident about what to expect.

How is parent coaching different from parenting therapy?

At FFEW, we use these terms interchangeably. Many parents feel more comfortable with the word “coaching,” but clinically the work is the same — it’s therapy delivered to parents rather than to children, focused on strategies, patterns, and emotional support that helps you show up more effectively for your child. When we invoice for sessions, we bill under “parent therapy,” which is what appears on your receipt for insurance purposes.

Is parent coaching covered by insurance?

Sessions are delivered by our clinical team of registered psychologists, psychotherapists, and social workers, and billed as “parent therapy” on your receipt. Most extended health insurance plans that cover psychological services will reimburse these sessions, though coverage varies by plan and provider type. We recommend checking with your insurer about what your plan covers before your first session. For full details on fees and coverage, see our fees and coverage page.

What is a Parent Coach and How Can They Support Behavioural Challenges?

A parent coach is a trained professional who provides guidance and support to parents in managing their child’s behavioral challenges. Through parent coaching, you will learn practical tools and strategies to address issues such as tantrums, defiance, and emotional outbursts. Our parent coaches help you strengthen your parenting skills, improve communication with your child, and build a calmer, more connected relationship.

Do I need to bring my child to sessions for this to work?

No, you do not need to bring your child to the sessions. Our parent coaching services focus on equipping you, the parent, with the skills and strategies to support your child effectively. In many cases, such as with our SPACE treatment for anxiety, the coaching is designed to be parent-led, meaning you can implement the techniques at home without your child attending sessions.

How can coaching help if I’m feeling overwhelmed or burned out?

Parent coaching can be incredibly beneficial if you’re feeling overwhelmed or burned out. Our coaches provide a supportive environment where you can express your challenges and receive personalized guidance. You’ll learn stress-management techniques, self-care strategies, and effective ways to handle parenting pressures, helping you regain your confidence and energy.

What kinds of strategies will I learn—and will they actually work at home?

In our parent coaching sessions, you’ll learn evidence-based strategies tailored to your family’s needs. These may include positive discipline techniques, emotion coaching, communication skills, and behavior management plans. Our methods are designed to be practical and applicable in real-life situations, ensuring that you can implement them effectively at home.

How quickly can I expect to see change?

The timeline for seeing change can vary depending on the specific challenges and your consistency in applying the strategies. However, many parents report feeling a positive shift in their parenting approach and their child’s behavior within just a few sessions of parent coaching. Our goal is to provide you with tools that lead to sustainable, long-term improvements.
