Dr. Zia Lakdawalla

Ph.D., C.Psych.

Director, Child Psychologist

We understand that many parents are increasingly worried about the mental health challenges facing children and adolescents today. With rising rates of youth anxiety, depression, and behavioural issues, it’s natural to seek support for both your child and yourself. We’re here to help you navigate these concerns with compassion and understanding.

When working with the youth and parents, I use a client-centred and evidence-based approach. My work with children, adolescents, and families is grounded in a commitment to establishing safe, nonjudgmental, and trusting relationships. With these foundations in place, I use effective interventions, providing opportunities for sustainable change and fostering environments where children can thrive—feeling seen, understood, and valued. My goal is to help clients navigate uncomfortable feelings, improve relationships, and bolster their confidence. I also work to empower parents with knowledge and tools needed to enhance the parent-child relationship, reduce behavioural problems, and foster long-term emotional health and resilience.

Dr. Lakdawalla obtained her B.A. in Psychology from McGill University, followed by a Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois- Chicago. She has accrued diverse professional experience across various mental health settings, including community mental health, private practice, day treatment programs, and hospitals.
In 2017, she founded Foundations for Emotional Wellness, to service more families in the Toronto area. Currently, she maintains a small private practice, conducts parenting groups and workshops, and delivers talks and training on various mental health issues.
